On October 11th, 2024, the grounds of the Kampiringisa National Rehabilitation Centre were alive with excitement and energy as the Sports Gala brought together children, staff, and organizations united by a shared purpose: to uplift and empower the youth.
The event was a collaborative effort, with representatives from the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Amplified Voices Network Uganda, Great Child Foundation, CJI Ministries, Holy Street Outreach, and Kampiringisa elders in attendance. It aimed to provide a platform for the children to showcase their talents in music, dance, drama, and sports while promoting their rights and well-being.
The day began with a spirited marching session through the center, setting the tone for an inspiring event. Children participated in various sports activities, including netball, football, and creative games, demonstrating teamwork, skill, and enthusiasm. Their performances in music, dance, and drama were equally captivating, showcasing their immense talent and creativity.
Organizations, including Great Child Foundation, introduced themselves and shared their missions. A representative from the Ministry of Gender praised the impactful work being done and encouraged continued collaboration to support the children further. Artists from Talent Walls added a spark of inspiration with their performances, connecting deeply with the young audience.
